A pastoral setting of the hymntune Slane for C trumpet, flugelhorn, horn, trombone and tuba. Commissioned in 1995 by the Lutheran Music Program in observance of the retirement of its founder, Dr. Carlos Messerli.

Written as a showpiece for the Philadelphia College of Bible Trumpet Ensemble, this arrangement is a jazz treatment of the standard hymn tune. It has been recorded on the Cala label's New York Legends series featuring Philip Smith, Principal Trumpet of the New York Philharmonic.

This fanfare was written for the Philadelphia College of Bible Trumpet Ensemble as an introduction to a choral and brass setting of the popular hymn "All Creatures of Our God and King" (one of many texts set to this tune). The first part is intended for piccolo trumpet, the other seven for B flat trumpets.

These fanfares were composed for important opening ceremonies at the institutions at which I've taught; the Library Fanfare was written for the W. T. Young Memorial Library at the University of Kentucky, and the Dedicatory Fanfare was written for Boston University's Harry Agganis Arena. They have subsequently been performed by ensembles from high school to professional levels at venues such as Tanglewood, the International Trumpet Guild Conference and the National Trumpet Competition.
